Un-fucking-believeable: Mosanto is suing a dairy co-op in Maine to force them to no longer have their label say that this milk does not use artificial hormones. Mosantos reasoning for it is that putting "no artificial hormones" on the label leads consumers to believe that milk from clean cows is better, and this is not true, and it hurts their sales.

The FDA seems to be in on this: their guideline does not allow dairy products to claim they are healthier because of coming from cows without the hormone. Mosanto claims the dairy they are suing is breaking that rule, because, according to Mosanto, just making the claim to be free of artificial hormones implies claiming to being a healthier product.

Oh, by the way, the hormone makes cow have more problems like sterility, lameness, and udder infections, which lead to more pus in the milk from inflamed udders. Based on this data, Canada and large parts of the EU do not allow cows to be treated with the hormone.

According to my ex, a registered nurse who had to deal with one of his colleagues writing in a female patient's chart that she had a "pussy discharge", this sort of thing is the reason the word "purulent" was coined.

But this whole discussion is becoming udderly gross... ;-(

Doubt the Holy Word of Our God Commerce? Thou shalt pay a high price for thy feckless words!

Monsanto owns the FDA and the USDA. And they are pursuing the EC in an attempt to force them to conform, too.

We need to execute more than a few CEOs/Boards and Make A Point: Corporations are not citizens and thus have no rights.

Amen. Kill 'em all, soon, and hopefully slowly and painfully and on pay-per-view.

"Corporations are not citizens and thus have no rights."

I agree with you, but you are fighting more than a century's worth of legal precedent that says otherwise.

Food and capitalism are a bad mix. Nobody would suffer if they simply banned BST outright.

Hopefully, this case will backfire, because it will demonstrate that BST is relevant in milk, and fuel a demand for BST-free products. Monsanto has a history of stupid public relations gaffes (which hurt their stock prices), but they keep trying...
