I drove from Boston, which I knew, to Carlisle, which I don't. The streets got progressively narrower, they were barely ever lit, and I got lost twice, once to the point I had to stop using Google Local on my phone for the route and walk into a gas station with a map and go "I'm here, right? And not here, right?" and I was and I wasn't, and the second time I got lost I missed a whole street but then suddenly I was on the next street I was supposed to be on, so I ended up at
topaz_munro's street after all. And then promptly walked up to the wrong house.
But it was empty so I realize the mailboxes on this street were just screwy, and not in front of the house they belong to. I went to the house where the lights were on and I saw people moving. Party was nice.
Then I drove back, stuck the cat, and drove on to the
slinkrtons to decompress from driving.
The road just never ends when you get lost. It goes on and on and turns into another road that is even further from where you need to be, and the cars in front of you and behind you keep going and pushing and you don't get to not be in the flow unless you break out real hard.
Somehow I feel a bit sick today right now.
