How do I become one of Kathy Griffin's gays? She always goes on about her gays, how she watches awards shows with them, how they help her though parties, how they mainline caffeine into her before a show. I can't even aspire to being D-list, but is being one of her gays attainable?

Could anyone of you who know her recommend me? Thanks? I make a really good gay, honest I do. I even can supresss a wince when anyone uses gay as a noun.

In other news, I have been running through colors for my bedroom wall in my head, but none of them stuck, all of them rejected in seconds. I was about to go for my ole standby, Benjamin Moore Atrium White, but I finally hit a look I am now completely obsessed by and can't get out of my head. Oh frack, painting, and a huge concrete textured wall as well. This was so much easier when I could con [livejournal.com profile] pinkfish into doing that.

Sure, rub it in. But you also watched her show and stuff, so maybe I need to start doing that too, and then see if you can get me an in. We're too late for the Emmys, but god knows what else to watch will come up.

I painted my bedroom Benjamin Moore "Brilliant Blue." (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dpnash/1399122797/)

Moore's saturated colors have such beautiful depth to them. Now paint all your furniture ming green, white, and light blue.

Heh. Bedroom furniture: The bed is black metal (CB2, "City Block" bed), with grey/lavender/mauve-ish bedding from Crate & Barrel. 3 Ikea Billy bookcases in "beech" veneer. A vintage 1950s wood magazine table as a nightstand (dark brown stain). Two Ikea lamps.

Have yet to hang anything on the walls. I'm thinking just one large original photograph, matted and framed over the bed, however I'm not sure which one yet. That leaves one big space on the opposite wall, but at the moment I'm still so in love with the color that I'm happy leaving it blank, just to enjoy that big swathe of gorgeous blue.

Suggestion to really let everyone know you love the blue: get the biggest ornate picture frame you can find, and hang it, by itself with no backing, over the blue.

God I have been on apartmenttherapy.com for too long.

Paint

Hey... speaking of paint, you asked me to tell you what we thought of the Devine paints. Well, their colors are beautiful on our walls, but the paint itself really isn't anything special. They promote it by saying how thick it is, but we still needed to do two coats, even after using primer.

Oh, and while I'm not one of Kathy Griffin's gays, I am one of Margaret Cho's gays:

I was waiting for your report to come in on that. Which of Devine's primers? Was the final finish as promised? Was it worth the extra expense to you? I am considering Devine because of the low VOC, the space is not the most ventilated.

Actually we didn't use Devine's primers, we just used generic Home Depot primer, with some grey tint to go behind the red Devine paint.

While I really like how everything has turned out so far, I'm no convinced that Devine was worth the extra expense. I think color matched Benjemin Moore would have been just fine, and cheaper.
