I know of only one, who spells it
"Silica Gel",
and does neo-new wave in Spanish.

Curious. There was a band from Raleigh called Silica-gel that put out one CD about a decade ago [called 50 Noisy Children Party]. They were good, even.
I'll have to check out the non-hyphenated variant soon.
