Why do all medical waiting rooms feel the same? Disney should do one.

When we lived in Prescott, AZ (mountain town, 30k people back then) my younger daughter needed a lot of dental work. She had a very bad dental experience when she was smaller, so I decided to take her to the pedodontist in town.

That place was Looney Tunes. Seriously. Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck and Tweety Bird EVERYWHERE - from the cartoony play yard where kids waited for oral sedation drugs to kick their little butts to Looney Tunes artwork and sculptures in each exam room and TVs in every room (four in the waiting room) showing Bugs Bunny.

The dentist came up with a Treatment Plan that would use up all $1500 of my daughter's allotted yearly benefit and cost $900 in addition. She was about eight at the time and told me *in front of the dentist* no less, that she could do without all the decorations if it meant spending less on teeth and having more money for other things.

So we did go to a different dentist. He took care of all her work for $600. $600 straight up, not after using all the benefits. He had Game Boys for the kids to play with while they waited to be numb, and when they were done he twisted balloon animals for them. That was more than good enough for my kids; they liked the Game Boys.

I occasionally drive by a kids' dental office around here that totally looks like it should be in Toontown. I haven't stopped by to see what kind of branding they have. But I do wonder whether Warner Brothers has some kind of a franchising program for dental offices, because that office we visited was really detailed and as immersive as I could imagine a setting like that being.

I see your daughter's point. I amused myself with my phone game.
