Today:
Woke at 8.30, first work emails and huge breakfast in bed, shower, off to Chalk Farm.
10 PM - 4PM Wireframes being made at the flat of my team lead overlooking a garden with a huge tree rustling in the wind and soft rain, for the first phase of a learning resources extension for a social developers site I am currently co-curating. Went over 3 other projects as well.
with 12 PM break for panini at the deli around the very cute corner. Primrose Hill is very romantic and pretty, especially in a light spring drizzle.
4 - 6.30 Tube ride back home, eat a snack, pack bag, gym. Talked to people there. Post-workout shake, buy protein bar at the counter for later, then on to a bus from Vauxhall (south of the river, near my neighborhood) to Regent Street (city shopping center).
7.15 PM In a club between Regent & Carnaby Streets for a clothing-exchange party for a good cause based on having signed up by following a Tweet of someone I follow and barely know. I just went and brought a pair of new Londsdale sneaker shoes cluttering my closet (I had two pair of these, almost identical) and Gianfranco Ferré trousers that were too low on the hips for me to ever have been comfortable in. The hostess was happy there was another guy (I counted 5), put my items on the clothing racks, and gave me hard candy in return as tokens to exchange for an equal amount of new clothes. The room was filled with bloggers and promoters and twitterers, mostly female, mostly late 20s, very hot -- if I were a straight guy I would have so wanted to be there. When 8 hit they just lunged to the racks and started looking and getting as many items as they had brought. We all got goodie bags, and all I did was meet new people and listen to stories. Yelp UK was sponsoring the night as part of their word-of-mouth marketing as they get over here, and I actually gave on of my candies to one of the promoters so she could get this dress that she wanted. I was told my shoes had flown off the rack. Everybody wanted to know each-other's Twitter handle. "So, wait, you're just @fj?"
21:30 PM Go back home, and have a liquid dinner; I couldn't stand cooking. What, stop looking at me like that, you know I don't drink alcohol. It was a splash of OJ, banana, frozen fruit, a teaspoon of a mixture of Omega 3, 6, and 9 oils, a small probiotic drink, all mixed together, over grape nuts. I was very happy. Then I watched some Golden Girls on YouTube. Time for bed.
These are the kinds of days I came to London for. I'd better have them.
